We've Come a Long Way

GE Refrigerator with Keurig Coffee Cartridge at UAKC

General Electric (GE) recently launched a new French Door Refrigerator that sports a Keurig Coffee Cartridge. Owners of this refrigerator can clear their countertops of coffee makers. The GE refrigerator with the Keurig Cartridge will brew up a fresh cup of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc. just like a Keurig coffee maker.

Frankly, when I first saw GE's new fridge being demonstrated at a trade show, I smiled and dismissed this as just another gimmick. Recently, I asked myself if I was giving this a fair hearing. Back in the 70's manufacturers added water and ice dispensers in the doors of refrigerators, I'm sure that someone like me thought that was silly. After all, how hard is it to open the door of your refrigerator to access ice and water. Jeez!!

Seriously, making a fresh, hot cup of coffee or other hot beverage, quickly with no muss or fuss is pretty cool. So, here's the scoop direct from GE on this new innovative refrigerator feature.
