Reasons to Buy an Induction Cooktop or Range
4 Good Reasons to Consider InductionHere are four very good reasons you should consider induction if you are purchasing a new range or cooktop. If you think Induction might be for you, be sure to contact the cooking experts at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center (UAKC). They carry all the major brands and have excellent selection and prices.1. Fast to heat Induction will heat faster than gas or conventional electric heating. One manufacturer has even touted that their induction cooktop will boil water in 90 seconds. Powerful electric coils under the glass surface create magnetic induction energy causing the metal cooking vessel to quickly heat up. The pan itself is what will cook your food in record time.2. Responsive Induction cooking is very responsive. Since the power turns on and off instantly and doesn't need to ramp up or down, you'll see boiling water stop boiling almost immediately when you turn off the power.3. Very little heat transfer to cooking surface Unlike traditional heating methods, the intense heat doesn't spread to the adjacent cooking surface, making cleanup a breeze. 4. Prices are the lowest ever.Just in the last year or two induction cooktops and ranges have dropped considerably in price. There are models for nearly any budget. Most appliance brands in the popular price range such as GE, Frigidaire, and Whirlpool now have induction models in their lineup. Upgrade brands such as KitchenAid, Bosch, GE Profile, and Electrolux have some great features and represent terrific values. For top of the line -

However, we've recently written about some odd sizes such as 42" and 45" cooktops. Also, Americans have an appetite for BIG appliances so several manufacturers produce 48" and even 60" cooktops. Now, we're going to examine cooktops and ranges made for small spaces. Many apartments and small living spaces are designed for 24" cooktops. Fortunately, there are some good choices available. This size also matches the common size for cooktops in Europe so there are several European brands in the mix.Gas 24" CooktopsMiele, Bertazzoni, Summit, BlueStar (Rangetop), Fagor, Verona, and Frigidaire (26"). Jenn-Air® 24-Inch Steam and Convection Wall Oven
UAKC is Headquarters for Combi Steam Convection OvensUniversal Appliance and Kitchen Center (UAKC) has long been at the forefront with the new generation of Steam Convection Ovens. While European brands Miele, Thermador, and Gaggenau have had steam convection ovens for a while, American brands such as Wolf and Viking have only recently introduced their versions. Jenn-Air is among the most recent to enter the field."Our latest ovens are engineered to deliver precise results and offer a range of cooking modes from steam cooking to proofing,” notes Juliet Johnson, Jenn-Air Brand Experience Marketing Manager. “Aesthetically, they’re designed to seamlessly integrate into a variety of contemporary kitchen layouts.”More details from Jenn-Air are provided below about the new oven. A couple of important details that we'd like to point out are: The new Jenn-Air Steam Convection oven operates on a standard 110v. 15amp. circuit. This could be critically important, because your electrician will not have to pull a new 240v. wire just for this oven. The unit fits a standard 24" wall cabinet, but Jenn-Air is making available trim kits to finish out the oven to make it also fill a 27" or 30" wall cabinet.OverviewThis versatile wall oven uses steam to preserve nutrients in vegetables and tenderness in meats, and convection for evenly-baked pastries and roasts. Use steam and convection together for food that’s tender inside and roasted or crisped outside.Steam Plus Convection ModeTo keep meats tender and juicy inside and magnificently browned on -

No Fingerprint Stainless Steel Appliances
Smudge-Proof™, Cleansteel™ or Clean Touch Steel™Available on Frigidaire Gallery®, GE, or Miele Appliances"No Fingerprint" Appliances at Universal Appliance and Kitchen CenterStainless steel is the most desirable and most popular finish for kitchen appliances. In spite of its popularity, homemakers continue to complain about the need to constantly wipe and polish their stainless steel appliances to rid them of fingerprints. Now, Frigidaire is promoting Smudge-Proof™ appliances on their Frigidaire Gallery® line of appliances. It's true. At last week's Design and Construction Week trade show in Las Vegas, the Frigidaire Gallery® display welcomed my oily fingers and despite several tries nary a fingerprint was visible. Here's Frigidaire's exact claim:Frigidaire Gallery® offers an exclusive line of Smudge-Proof™ Stainless Steel kitchen appliances with a protective coating, making it effortless to keep your kitchen looking beautiful. So, if you want to avoid the hassle of the most common complaint of stainless steel appliance owners consider Smudge-Proof™ Frigidaire Gallery® appliances. It's worth noting that GE has something called Cleansteel™ which is a laminate finish (except for ranges) with the look of stainless, but without the fingerprints. GE ranges with the Cleansteel™ designation are designed to match the Cleansteel™ refrigerators and dishwashers, but do not have the laminate coating, because the laminate will not stand up to the heat from a range. Here's GE's description of Cleansteel™:The Look of Stainless Without the FingerprintsYou want to see your child's fingerpainting masterpieces displayed on the family refrigerator, not her fingerprints. With CleanSteel, you get the look of -

Appliance Colors for 2014
Alternatives to Stainless Steel Choosing Appliance Colors at UAKC Pantone has chosen Radiant Orchid as the color of the year for 2014. If nothing else, this color is sure to be a conversation starter. In major appliances, Stainless Steel continues to reign supreme, though stainless steel has not been without its challengers. A few years ago, Jenn-Air introduced Oiled Bronze appliances as a designer finish, but while it attracted a lot of attention, few sales followed. Viking has had an extensive array of colors available in it's appliance line, now pared down to about a dozen favorites. Taking a more conservative approach, Wolf has elected to add a black glass look to its oven lineup, and the German brand Miele has added Brilliant White Plus to its sleek European kitchen aesthetic.GE recently introduced a line of appliances in Slate, as a less expensive alternative to Stainless Steel, and Whirlpool is touting its Ice Collection - shiny white or black with stainless accents. BlueStar ranges offer over 750 color and finish combinations (see Radiant Orchid below), while Italian brand, Bertazzoni also has jumped on the color bandwagon. Several other European brands are also available in various colors. They include SMEG, La Cornue, and AGA.Designers have been adding touches of color to monochromatic kitchens for interest and contrast. Maybe, a few colorful appliances will help brighten your kitchen. For expert help selecting colorful or not -
