New Freestanding/Slide-In Ranges that "FIT"
New Ranges from Jenn-Air Jenn-Air ranges that "FIT" from Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center These Jenn-Air ranges were once called slide-in ranges, and it's still OK to call them that. BUT these all new Jenn-Air ranges are manufactured with finished sides, a top that doesn't overlap, and a depth that goes all the way to the back wall between the cabinets. That fits the definition of a freestanding range. What this all means in simple terms is that the new Jenn-Air ranges are designed to "FIT" for either a slide-in OR a freestanding application. In fact, the term FIT System* describes the quick, seamless range installation on these new Jenn-Air ranges. They're made to fit any freestanding range cutout as well as the traditional slide-in opening. Now, you can have the built-in look of a slide-in range with the simple installation of a freestanding range. Jenn-Air will even pay up to $100 for any necessary professional countertop cutout modification. Click on the link below for more information on the FIT System*: No remodeling necessary NEW JENN-AIR RANGESHere's how Jenn-Air describes the new ranges being launched on Dec.1st. Freestanding Range vs Slide-In Range
What's the Difference Should you buy a slide-in or a freestanding range?Find out at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center Freestanding A freestanding range will have its control panel and knobs rising from the back of the range. It is finished on both sides and in a typical installation, a freestanding range is pushed back against the wall in a 30" space with adjacent standard 24" deep cabinet. Also, since the sides are finished, a freestanding range could easily be installed at the end of a cabinet run. However, they don't work well in an island installation since the control panel sticks up in the back and is unfinished on the back. Slide-In To the contrary, a slide-in range has the controls in the front so there is no back panel, and it works well in an island installation. The sides are not finished, so without an accessory end panel they cannot be installed at the end of a cabinet run. There is normally a lip on each side of a slide-in range that overlaps the countertop, giving the range a built-in look and eliminating the space between range and adjacent counter. In addition, slide in ranges do not slide all the way to the back, thus allowing for a strip or moulding behind the range further enhancing the built-in look. Though choices in slide-in ranges are limited and they cost more than equivalent freestanding ranges, slide-in ranges are an excellent -

Checking Appliance Dimensions
Getting Appliances that Fit Your Space Measure Twice - Install Once When buying new appliances it's a good idea to double check dimensions and openings. Width, height, and depth are just the beginning. Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center (UAKC) can help you get appliances that fit in your space. Here are a few tips to get started: Refrigerators In the case of a refrigerator, consider also how much clearance you will need for air circulation. Will the doors open fully without banging into a wall or cabinet? Even if the refrigerator door will open 90 degrees with an adjacent wall, make certain the refrigerator door swings out wide enough to enable you to open the crisper drawers. Some 72" tall counter depth refrigerators could have a clearance issue with upper cabinets. Not only does the refrigerator case need to slide in the space, but the hinges need to clear if the upper cabinets extend forward to the front of the refrigerator Dishwashers In tight spaces, avoid putting dishwashers with handles near a corner. You'll quickly find that adjacent cabinet drawers cannot open because they are blocked by the dishwasher handle. The same problem could occur with other appliances so make sure that there is sufficient clearance when appliance doors and cabinet doors open into each. Cooking Appliances Ranges and cooktops should not be placed at the end of a cabinet run. Placing cooking surfaces against an adjacent wall is a fire hazard. A wall oven next to a refrigerator -

Many Major Appliances are Made in the U.S.
Where are cooking appliances made? Customers often want to know where an appliance is manufactured. A surprising number of major appliances sold in the U.S. are manufactured here also. Let's take a look at cooking products. Here are where the Big 3 appliance manufacturers in the U.S. (Whirlpool, Electrolux/Frigidaire, and GE) make their ranges, cooktops, and ovens. Whirlpool Corporation also includes Amana, Jenn-Air, KitchenAid, and Maytag brands. They have a large facility (one million sq. ft.) in Cleveland, Tenn. where freestanding and slide-in ranges are built, as well as cooktops and wall ovens. In addition, they also build some ranges in their Tulsa, Oklahoma facility. Headquartered in Benton Harbor, Michigan, Whirlpool is the largest appliance manufacturer in the world. Over 80% of the appliances that Whirlpool sells in the U.S. are manufactured here. Whirlpool claims to employ more U.S. workers than all their competitors combined. Electrolux/Frigidaire has their range factory in Springfield, Tennessee, and has build a new cooktop facility near Memphis. It's worth noting that the Swedish firm Electrolux is the 2nd largest appliance manufacturer in the world, and has a major U.S. presence. GE makes ranges and ovens in their Roper facility in Lafayette, GA. GE also has strong ties to Mabe, a Mexican appliance company that builds GE's gas ranges. In spite of GE's affiliation with Mabe (GE has a 48% stake), GE is a leader in "insourcing", and has been adding appliance manufacturing jobs in the U.S. for several years. In addition, GE is quite proud
