The 2013 IBS – International Builder Show was held in Las Vegas on Jan. 21-24. Over 60,000 builders and trade related customers attended. Here are a few of the new appliance and plumbing items that were shown at this annual expo. Some are available today at UAKC, Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center. The rest will be arriving within a few months.

GE Appliances

Within a few months, GE will launch a new look in its successful Profile appliance line-up. Here is an sneak peak of an exciting new Wi-Fi Enabled Profile Wall Oven. The lighted red line on the photo below vanishes as the oven timer counts down, giving the cook a strong visual indication from across the room of how much time is left. The appliance can be operated from a wi-fi enabled iPhone or Android device, and features a unique convection system with a fan that surrounds the food with preheated air even from the top.

GE's new twin evaporator Profile French Door Refrigerator has an all new dispenser system that even dispenses HOT water – great for soups or hot tea.

Kohler Plumbing

Not to be outdone by their appliance friends, Kohler introduced their Moxie shower head + wireless speaker that plays music while you shower. You can pipe the music in from any bluetooth enabled device. Now when you sing in the shower, you can do a duet with Tony Bennett.

Free Appliance offers usually include a free appliance with the purchase of a specific kitchen appliance or kitchen appliances. For example, purchase a range or a cooktop + wall oven and get a free dishwasher. Sometimes manufacturers parlay the free offer so that if you purchase the necessary appliances to get the free dishwasher you can then purchase a built-in refrigerator and get a free vent hood or add-on appliance such as an icemaker, wine chiller, etc. for free.

Mail-In Rebates are offers by appliance manufacturers to refund or “rebate” to consumers a specifc amount when they purchase qualifying appliances such as the KitchenAid appliance rebate below. The consumer must complete a rebate form or certificate, and send it in to the manufacturer along with proof of purchase. It can take up to 8 weeks to get the rebate.

Instant Rebates are similar to the Mail-In Rebates above except that the dealer gives the customer the rebate at the time of purchase and gets re-imbursed by the manufacturer. Customers can save up to $2500 on Sub-Zero and Wolf kitchen appliances below.
