The Viking Brigade appliance series is inspired by Viking's commercial appliance line, but built for your home. 520 years ago Columbus landed on the shores of America. Today we celebrate Columbus Day as a Federal holiday on the second Monday of each October. The earliest recorded remembrance of Columbus' “discovery” of the New World was in 1792 on the 300th anniversary of his journey. However, the first celebration of Columbus Day was organized in 1866 by Italian residents of New York City. It wasn't until 1937 that President Franklin D. Roosevelt declared all October 12th's as Columbus Day, but in 1971 it was declared by Congress that the second Monday in October be recognized as a national holiday.
