If you’re replacing an old dishwasher, consider replacing the disposer at the same time. It makes sense, since they likely were both installed at the same originally. If you wind up replacing a disposer a few months after you’ve replaced the dishwasher, you’ll kick yourself for not taking this advice.

You’ll only pay one trip charge if you replace the disposer and dishwasher at the same time, and the installation will be straightforward because the installer is already working under the sink, and making a connection to the disposer when installing the dishwasher.
