New Range Hoods
Perimetric Hoods from Jenn-Air Available Now at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center When Jenn-Air launched its Super Premium appliances in 2009, one of the eye-catching products was a dramatic new vent hood. Not only did it have a striking appearance, but it incorporated a new venting methodology - Perimetric Venting. Jenn-Air and other high end brands available at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center are now offering more hoods featuring this advanced system. Here's what Jenn-Air has to say about how this venting system works: Traditional ventilation hoods are open with visible filters. By contrast, our perimetric ventilation hoods hide the filters behind a cover, and only thin openings around the cover’s edges are visible. What you may not know is that this design deliberately focuses airflow by drawing air through the thin slots. This speeds up the air to rapidly capture cooking vapors. While traditional ventilation hoods centralize the capture area directly underneath the blower motor, perimetric ventilation distributes the capture area around the edges of the cover, nearer to the edges of the ventilation hood. This helps capture cooking vapors from above the entire cooking surface. This design deliberately focuses airflow by drawing air through the thin slots... to rapidly capture cooking vapors. The combination of focused airflow and distributed capture area delivers the performance and efficiency of our perimetric ventilation while keeping its design elegant and understated. You can explore Jenn-Air's perimetric hoods and other major appliances and plumbing fixtures at Universal Appliance and Kitchen -

Compare Appliances Before Buying
All appliances are not the same ...even when they appear to be Get the facts at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center One of the enduring myths about appliances is that if appliance brand A and B are manufactured by the same company or in the same factory, then those appliances are the same. Electrolux owns and makes Frigidaire, Electrolux, and Electrolux Icon brands. GE owns and makes Hotpoint, GE Café, Profile, and Monogram brands. BSH owns and makes Bosch, Thermador, and Gaggenau brands. Whirlpool owns and manufactures Amana, Jenn-air, KitchenAid, Maytag, and Whirlpool. At their laundry factory in Clyde, Ohio they build Whirlpool washing machines as well as Maytag washers. They're both great brands and each serves a specific niche in the marketplace. However, some people make the assumption that because they are made in the same factory a Maytag and Whirlpool washer are necessarily the same. Below are a comparably priced Maytag Maxima Front Load Washer and Whirlpool Smart Front Load Washer. MAYTAG MAXIMA® FRONT LOAD WASHER WITH STEAM AND POWERWASH® SYSTEMMHW8100DW Whirlpool Smart Front Load Washer with 6th Sense Technology: Stainless SteelModel: WFL98HEBU Are they the same? It's like asking if you and your brother or sister are the same as you. You may have a lot of similarities, but are you really the same? A leading consumer magazine rated the Maytag machine #1, saying that the Whirlpool performed nearly as well as the Maytag, and they gave the Whirlpool a "Best Buy" based on its price and -

Convection Cooking? Is it just hot air?
Cooking with Convection How do convection ovens and ranges work? Wikipedia A convection oven (also known as a fan-assisted oven or simply a fan oven) is an oven that has fans to circulate air around food. Conventional ovens, which do not have fans, rely primarily on radiation from the oven walls, and to a lesser extent, on natural convection caused by temperature differences within the oven, to transfer heat to food. Depending on the brand and type of convection (see below) the benefits of convection cooking include: More even baking Cookies on multiple racks will come out perfectly cooking regardless of where they are placed. Faster roasting Your Thanksgiving turkey may be done 1/3 to 1/2 sooner than cooking conventionally. More flavorful The fan driven air circulation and speed of convection quickly browns roasts and other foods giving them a nice crust and sealing in juices and nutrients. True or European Convection European convection or "True" convection has an element surrounding the convection fan versus regular ol' convection that has a fan only - no third element. There is about a 50 year debate still going on about the differences and advantages of these two systems, and we're not about to step in it here except to say that you get to choose...and that's a good thing! Some ovens such as Wolf have DUAL convection meaning two fans. Jenn-Air's unique V2™ dual fans are stacked vertically.Just about all of the premium brands offer the convection
