Small Appliances are Booming
Thinking Small (small appliances) at UAKCDeluxe 24" Appliances Now Available in SouCalUniversal Appliance and Kitchen Center has long been known for having the best selection of major appliances in all Southern California. That selection has been growing with all the new European sized 60cm. wide appliances that have been launched in the U.S. (60cm. is approximately 24 inches). For decades the standard size for U.S. ranges, cooktops, ovens, and hoods has been 30", and most single family homes today include 30" wide base and upper cabinets. However, for various reasons, there are large numbers of housing units in Southern California that have 24" wall and base cabinets that need 24" wide appliances. All the popular U.S. brand 30" wide ovens, ranges, and vent hoods won't fit in these cabinets, so only basic 24" apartment models have been available. That's all in the past, as new products are now available for 24" cabinets at a variety of price points and with a variety of features. For example, here is a new Bertazzoni stainless steel 24" wide gas range, a nice upgrade from a U.S. standard model. If you're looking for a full suite of built-in appliances in this category, you might start with Bosch, a European appliance manufacturer with a great reputation. Bosch is a premium brand, that has great quality, and at a price below the luxury category. Miele is also a European brand with a good selection of European size (60 cm) wide appliances. -

Paralysis by Analysis
Deciding on a new appliance.UAKC can help you make the right decision.Recently, I wanted to buy an additional monitor for my office computer setup. I shopped around, and knew the prices, features, and sizes that would work for me. Yet, I agonized endlessly over this model or that, and I just couldn't decide. Suddenly, it struck me that I spent less time deciding over a new car that costs tens of thousands than over an inexpensive electronic device that cost only a few hundred dollars. Why was I spending all this time debating back and forth over something that cost so little? This is called paralysis by analysis. To one degree or another, we all have it. If you need a new refrigerator, a washer and dryer, or even an entire suite of kitchen appliances, you don't want to make a mistake....but, you also don't want to needlessly deny yourself these new appliances just because of your paralysis by analysis syndrome. Here's a suggestion: Call or visit Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center. I've know these folks for a long time (long before I began writing these blogs). They won't waste your time. They are very knowledgeable. Tell them what your situation is, and in no time at all they'll make a few recommendations. They'll try to match your requests for brand, quality level, pricing, etc. with the best overall choices that fit your needs. With their large selection of brands, and great pricing you really won't need to be shopping around. Appliance Rebates are back in 2016
UAKC has all the latest appliance rebatesFrom Bosch to Wolf, appliance rebates are alive and well at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center in 2016.However, it's worth noting that none of the rebates currently listed below by UAKC are valid beyond mid-year. Many of them expire on or before the end of March. While rebates will surely come and go, it's always worth doing a little research when you're preparing to make a purchase. Check the rebates by clicking on the link below:UAKC APPLIANCE REBATES3 Guidelines for maximizing your rebate potential1. Be flexible with your purchases. Most rebates require that you do something to get something, eg. "buy this and get that free." There may be something on the "buy" side that you were not planning on buying. On the other hand, you may not be enthralled with the specific "free" item on the offer. Re-consider your options. Is it worth accepting a FREE dishwasher from brand X when you had planned buying a brand A dishwasher? Think again...FREE. 2. Purchase when the savings are there. The rebate offer expires in March, but you won't be ready for the product until May. If the savings are great enough, you may want to make the purchase a bit early. Ask if you can postpone delivery for a few weeks or perhaps store the appliances in your garage until you are ready. It should be worth some inconvenience to save a few hundred dollars or more.3. Don't forget Free is Free.So you get free -

Choosing a New Refrigerator
2 Main Decisions When Buying A New RefrigeratorTime to get a new refrigerator? Here are two fundamental decisions you might think about before you go shopping.1. Door ConfigurationsRefrigerators come with their doors configured in three fundamental ways.Top-Mount RefrigeratorsThe simplest refrigerator door setup is a two-door refrigerator with the freezer on the top. Otherwise known as Top Mount refrigerators, these refrigerators seem to have been around forever. They're commonly inexpensive entry level refrigerators, and often used in apartments.Bottom-Mount RefrigeratorsRefrigerators with the freezer on the bottom include models that have bottom doors that swing open, or more often, bottom freezer doors that slide out. Many people like the convenience of a wide refrigerator compartment on the top and freezer storage below.French-Door RefrigeratorsIn the 1990's, Amana introduced Bottom-Mount Refrigerators with a split refrigerator door referred to as French-Door Refrigerators. As they became popular, other brands introduced their own versions. In the late 1990's, Jenn-Air (a sister company of Amana), launched cabinet-depth French Door refrigerators.Today there are many versions of refrigerators with a top refrigerator split door configuration and bottom doors and drawers that serve various purposes.Side-by-Side RefrigeratorsDespite the popularity of various configurations of French-Door Refrigerators, the Side-by-Side Refrigerator still holds on to a large share of new refrigerator sales. Buyers say that they like having frozen foods readily available without having to search through a deep freezer bin to find things.2. Refrigerator type by depthYou will also need to choose not only the overall size of your refrigerator in terms of cu.ft., but -

Choosing a new luxury range
3 Reasons to upgrade your rangeIf you're shopping for a new range (stove), at some point your sales associate will need to know whether you want a "standard" range such as those provided by the big name household appliance companies GE, Whirlpool, and Frigidaire (Electrolux), if you'd rather narrow your selection to luxury ranges for example, Wolf, Viking, or Thermador. You might even want something in between, maybe KitchenAid, Bertazonni, or Bosch. While budget is always important, there are other considerations when moving up from standard model ranges to more deluxe brands and models. Here are three common situations: 1. New luxury homeSo, you're moving into a new neighborhood with custom homes, and a luxury kitchen is de rigueur. Let your sales associate know that you'd like to confine your search for ranges to the more premium brands. 2. Upgrade or Kitchen RemodelIf you are doing a complete remodel of your kitchen, this would be a good time to consider elevating your appliance selections, especially when it comes to cooking appliances. Here's where the Goldilocks rule comes into play. You want appliances that are right for your future home - not too basic, not too luxurious, but just right. Consider, the eventual resale value of your house. If your neighborhood has greatly appreciated over the years, your new kitchen needs to be be able to capture that growth in value with appliances that meet the expectations of a more exclusive buyer. 3. Gourmet ChefWhile it's important to have appliances that
