Choosing a New Refrigerator
2 Main Decisions When Buying A New RefrigeratorTime to get a new refrigerator? Here are two fundamental decisions you might think about before you go shopping.1. Door ConfigurationsRefrigerators come with their doors configured in three fundamental ways.Top-Mount RefrigeratorsThe simplest refrigerator door setup is a two-door refrigerator with the freezer on the top. Otherwise known as Top Mount refrigerators, these refrigerators seem to have been around forever. They're commonly inexpensive entry level refrigerators, and often used in apartments.Bottom-Mount RefrigeratorsRefrigerators with the freezer on the bottom include models that have bottom doors that swing open, or more often, bottom freezer doors that slide out. Many people like the convenience of a wide refrigerator compartment on the top and freezer storage below.French-Door RefrigeratorsIn the 1990's, Amana introduced Bottom-Mount Refrigerators with a split refrigerator door referred to as French-Door Refrigerators. As they became popular, other brands introduced their own versions. In the late 1990's, Jenn-Air (a sister company of Amana), launched cabinet-depth French Door refrigerators.Today there are many versions of refrigerators with a top refrigerator split door configuration and bottom doors and drawers that serve various purposes.Side-by-Side RefrigeratorsDespite the popularity of various configurations of French-Door Refrigerators, the Side-by-Side Refrigerator still holds on to a large share of new refrigerator sales. Buyers say that they like having frozen foods readily available without having to search through a deep freezer bin to find things.2. Refrigerator type by depthYou will also need to choose not only the overall size of your refrigerator in terms of cu.ft., but -

New Whirlpool Double Drawer Refrigerator
Organize Your Fridge - Organize Your LifeWhirlpool's New Double Drawer Refrigerator We're used to having drawers and shelves and compartments inside our refrigerators. Fruits go here, vegetables there, and over there are cheese and deli meats. Whirlpool makes it even easier by adding exterior opening double drawers below the refrigerator compartment. Don't worry, you'll still get those clear crispers in the refrigerator compartment (with automatic humidity control), but now you ALSO get an external produce drawer called a "Fresh Flow" produce preserver for even more convenience. Whirlpool has made organization a big priority and even added a pizza pocket in the freezer section and a "tuck shelf" in the refrigerator section that pops out when you need an extra shelf. Of course full gallon storage in the door is included.Whirlpool calls all of this organization their PerfectPlaces™ system. With 25.8cu. ft. It seems there really is a place for everything. Even the freezer has triple-tier storage with 5 custom temperature settings: Meat/Fish, Snacks, Cold Drinks, Deli/Cheese, and Thaw. Both of the exterior opening drawers are soft-close drawers. No more slamming an outside drawer shut. For more information and pricing on the new Whirlpool Double Drawer Refrigerator click on the model number below to go to the UAKC web page for this item:WRV996FDEMFor more information on major appliances or plumbing fixtures call or visit the experts at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center today. -

New Appliance Inside Colors
What color is your refrigerator --- on the inside? Jenn-Air Launches Obsidian Refrigerators Available at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center Jenn-Air introduces a new Obsidian refrigerator. The Obsidian interior is accompanied with LED Studio lighting to lend an air of sophistication to the inside of Jenn-Air's luxury built-in unit. The idea is to give the inside of the refrigerator a touch of the elegance that designers endeavor to convey in the kitchen environment outside the refrigerator. The new refrigerators are available in three configurations - a 36" wide unit which has a single upper door and bottom freezer drawer, a 36" French door model with split upper doors and bottom freezer drawer, or a 42" French door model. All three models can be configured with custom panels to match the surrounding cabinets, or with stainless steel fronts. More than just a pretty new interior color, the new Jenn-Air's multi-point LED lighting gives an elegant sparkle by reflecting off the metallic accents in the dark charcoal pigment coating the cabinet. Add to that soft close interior drawers, and there is no doubt that this product is a standout among luxury refrigerators. The sophistication goes beyond just look and feel. Jenn-Air's TwinFresh® climate control system provides separate cooling for refrigerator and freezer by using dual evaporators. Advanced Technology in Today's Refrigerators
Three Modern Refrigerator ImprovementsAvailable at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center (UAKC)It's been several decades since the average American family relied on an "Ice Box" to keep food cold. In fact, most of us have never owned a manual defrost refrigerator. Today, we not only take for granted that we're going to have an appliance that will keep frozen food frozen, and cold food cold, but we also expect our refrigerator to dispense water and ice, all the while using about the same amount of energy as a 60 watt light bulb. Twenty-first century refrigerators are really a credit to remarkable and steady advances in technology. Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center carries all the major refrigerator brands at popular prices as well as the luxury brands. They also carry several of the specialty refrigerator brands.1. Compressor technologyToday's compressor's are much smaller and run far quieter than the big piston model that would noisily pump away inside the old porcelain lined monster "fridge" of Ozzie and Harriet's day. A variable speed refrigerator compressor in 2014 might run 100% of the time changing speed based on demand for cooling from various sensors, and even factoring in usage patterns.2. Improved insulation.Fiberglass blankets have been replaced by blown in polyurethane foam-in-place insulation. Better insulation can not only reduce energy usage, but can also strengthen the refrigerator walls and increase the capacity.3. Defrost technology."Frost-free" refrigerators have been around for decades. Traditionally, a frost free refrigerator goes into a defrost cycle automatically after a certain number of -

New Appliances from Viking Coming Soon
New From Viking: French-Door Double Oven Coming Soon to Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center Viking Professional French-Door Double Oven Although the new Viking French-door oven is not exclusive, Blue-Star and American Range, also have French-door ovens, Viking is certainly the first mainstream brand to offer this configuration. The real benefit to this setup is the convenience of not having a drop down oven door blocking your access to the oven cavity. This is particularly problematic with an oven located at eye-level such as the upper oven in a double oven. Placing and removing a turkey in the upper oven can be a daunting task. If there is a disadvantage to a French-door oven, it is that you need to be extra careful and remember that when you swing these doors open, the inside of each door is going to be super hot. Overall, it's good news for Viking and good news for the industry to have a major brand offering a French-door double oven. Here's what Viking has to say about this exciting new product and a list of key features:Part Icon. Part Attitude. Total Accessibility. The Viking Professional French-Door Double Oven introduces total convenience and the same superior power and performance as other Viking Professional ovens. Side swing doors turn this traditional oven into a modern amenity, putting accessibility to your dish within arm’s reach. Innovative Features Open Both Doors With One Hand. Easily open either french-door with
