Laundry Centers at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center
Washers and Dryers for Small SpacesLaundry Centers are an All-in-One SolutionWhen space is at a premium you may not have room for a full-size, side by side washer and dryer pair. A laundry center may be just what you need. Laundry centers feature a washer on the bottom and a dryer above. Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center (UAKC) carries major brand laundry centers from GE, Frigidaire, Whirlpool, Speed Queen, and Maytag.Just like side-by-side laundry units, these laundry centers are available with either gas or electric (240v) dryers, and need to be vented outside. Compact models are 24" wide, while 27" wide laundry centers will give you full-versions of both washer and dryer in a stacked configuration. The 27" models not only have larger capacity, but will also have most of the same features and cycles that you'd find on their separate counterparts. Carefully check all dimensions (height, width, and depth) to make sure that the laundry center will fit in the space you have available. You'll need hot and cold water connections, as well as 240v. electricity or gas line for the dryer, and a dryer vent.If you don't have either 240v. electricity or gas available for the dryer there are special models designed to work on 120v. but they will take longer to dry. There are also dryer models that are designed to work without an external vent, but there are tradeoffs to be made with these dryers as well. Finally, you may -

Take a Fresh Look at GE Monogram
GE Monogram Belongs in the Luxury Appliance CategoryWhen considering luxury appliance brands, some have discounted GE Monogram not because of the products but because of the "GE" in the Monogram brand name. General Electric is a big name in appliances anchored with the GE name. They include GE, GE Profile, GE Cafe, GE Artistry Series, and GE Monogram. Luxury customers seeking exclusivity can be put off by the association of the Monogram line with its sister GE brands of lower esteem. This is unfortunate.Consider that Whirlpool uses Jenn-Air as their brand in the super premium category. Frigidaire is the mass brand for Electrolux, while Electrolux brand and Electrolux Icon are their top end brand names. The German company BSH has similarly segmented its brands Bosch, Thermador, and Gaggenau. But somehow it's just not the same because General Electric has kept its name on Monogram appliances as GE Monogram. However, there is plenty of differentiation between GE Monogram and GE's other brands. For example, GE Monogram has a really well-featured and attractive line of professional style ranges and rangetops completely different from anything in the the rest of their portfolio. If you want the appearance and performance of pro ranges or rangetops, you should definitely consider GE Monogram. In built-In refrigerators and wine units, GE Monogram is one of only a few brands that also offers a lineup of integrated models. These can be installed flush with hidden hinges to -

Reasons to Buy an Induction Cooktop or Range
4 Good Reasons to Consider InductionHere are four very good reasons you should consider induction if you are purchasing a new range or cooktop. If you think Induction might be for you, be sure to contact the cooking experts at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center (UAKC). They carry all the major brands and have excellent selection and prices.1. Fast to heat Induction will heat faster than gas or conventional electric heating. One manufacturer has even touted that their induction cooktop will boil water in 90 seconds. Powerful electric coils under the glass surface create magnetic induction energy causing the metal cooking vessel to quickly heat up. The pan itself is what will cook your food in record time.2. Responsive Induction cooking is very responsive. Since the power turns on and off instantly and doesn't need to ramp up or down, you'll see boiling water stop boiling almost immediately when you turn off the power.3. Very little heat transfer to cooking surface Unlike traditional heating methods, the intense heat doesn't spread to the adjacent cooking surface, making cleanup a breeze. 4. Prices are the lowest ever.Just in the last year or two induction cooktops and ranges have dropped considerably in price. There are models for nearly any budget. Most appliance brands in the popular price range such as GE, Frigidaire, and Whirlpool now have induction models in their lineup. Upgrade brands such as KitchenAid, Bosch, GE Profile, and Electrolux have some great features and represent terrific values. For top of the line -

Bottom Freezer Refrigerators at UAKC
Popular Bottom Freezer Refrigerator Style Advantages of Modern Bottom Freezer Refrigerators Refrigerators with the freezer on the bottom have been around for a long time. Much of the credit for popularizing this configuration goes to Amana. During the 80's and 90's when Side-by-Side refrigerators were all the rage, Amana continued to promote refrigerators with a freezer section on the bottom. Eventually, they introduced a version with double doors in the refrigerator section and the French Door refrigerator revolution began. Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center (UAKC) has been selling and promoting these refrigerator models for many years and carries most of the brands that offer this configuration. French Door refrigerators are also bottom freezer refrigerators because they do in fact also have a freezer on the bottom, but we're going to confine our review here to bottom freezer refrigerators with a single door on the top. Brands including Amana, Frigidaire, GE, Jenn-Air, KitchenAid, Maytag, Fisher & Paykel, Sub Zero, Whirlpool and others are available with a freezer on the bottom. These refrigerators come in the following configurations: The freezer doors may swing out just as in the Amana below, but the most popular models have freezers that pull out. Styling varies. One of the more recent models introduced from the GE Artistry Series has a look that is both retro and trendy. Most bottom freezers refrigerators will come with an icemaker in the freezer compartment, and many will have internal water dispensers. Only a few manufacturers such as Fisher & Paykel -

24" Wide and Smaller Ranges and Cooktops
More Appliances for Small SpacesCooktops that are made to fitCommon Cooktop Sizes for appliances in the United States are 30" and 36". However, we've recently written about some odd sizes such as 42" and 45" cooktops. Also, Americans have an appetite for BIG appliances so several manufacturers produce 48" and even 60" cooktops. Now, we're going to examine cooktops and ranges made for small spaces. Many apartments and small living spaces are designed for 24" cooktops. Fortunately, there are some good choices available. This size also matches the common size for cooktops in Europe so there are several European brands in the mix.Gas 24" CooktopsMiele, Bertazzoni, Summit, BlueStar (Rangetop), Fagor, Verona, and Frigidaire (26"). Getting Cooktops and Ovens that Fit
Finding a cooktop or oven that fits your cutoutUniversal Appliance and Kitchen Center is Headquarters for Built-In AppliancesIf you're remodeling an older home, and using existing countertops and cabinets, you may encounter difficulty finding just the right size cooktop or wall oven to replace the existing appliance. In Southern California there are many nice homes in mature neighborhoods that could use an appliance update. However, in some cases there are some older appliances that need replacing, but may take a bit of work finding replacement models that fit. Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center (UAKC) can help. Here are some suggestions for odd sized ovens and cookotps.Gas Double Wall Ovens24" wide double gas ovens are common in some neighborhoods. While 24" cutouts are not used much in new construction these days, it does appear that both Maytag and Frigidaire still make 24" double gas wall ovens. First measure your existing appliance dimensions. Then check with the folks at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center (UAKC) to review your options.Believe it or not, there were some 30" wall ovens that required a 33" cabinet. If you are replacing one of these wall ovens, you may find that another 30" wall oven will be too small for the cutout. In this case, you'd need a filler or trim kit of some kind.Trim KitsSpeaking of trim kits, Micro-Trim makes trim kits specifically for ovens, microwave ovens, and cooktops. They may prove to be indispensable if you can't find
