Jenn-Air® 24-Inch Steam and Convection Wall Oven
UAKC is Headquarters for Combi Steam Convection OvensUniversal Appliance and Kitchen Center (UAKC) has long been at the forefront with the new generation of Steam Convection Ovens. While European brands Miele, Thermador, and Gaggenau have had steam convection ovens for a while, American brands such as Wolf and Viking have only recently introduced their versions. Jenn-Air is among the most recent to enter the field."Our latest ovens are engineered to deliver precise results and offer a range of cooking modes from steam cooking to proofing,” notes Juliet Johnson, Jenn-Air Brand Experience Marketing Manager. “Aesthetically, they’re designed to seamlessly integrate into a variety of contemporary kitchen layouts.”More details from Jenn-Air are provided below about the new oven. A couple of important details that we'd like to point out are: The new Jenn-Air Steam Convection oven operates on a standard 110v. 15amp. circuit. This could be critically important, because your electrician will not have to pull a new 240v. wire just for this oven. The unit fits a standard 24" wall cabinet, but Jenn-Air is making available trim kits to finish out the oven to make it also fill a 27" or 30" wall cabinet.OverviewThis versatile wall oven uses steam to preserve nutrients in vegetables and tenderness in meats, and convection for evenly-baked pastries and roasts. Use steam and convection together for food that’s tender inside and roasted or crisped outside.Steam Plus Convection ModeTo keep meats tender and juicy inside and magnificently browned on -

Similarly, various speed cooking products have been shown over the years with mixed success. Both GE and Whirlpool have versions (Advantium and Velos) on the market now, but Thermador's Jet Impingement system shown in the early 2000's never launched. What will we see this year? Celebrate the Fourth of July with made in USA Appliances
Good News for Buyers of Made in the USA Appliances Get US Brand Appliances at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center If you are looking forward to the 4th of July holiday season with all the attending appliance sale events, you might think about buying American, and you might be surprised to find out that there are many good choices of high quality US brands made in the USA. Below is a blog we published last year detailing your options. It might be interesting and worthwhile to look at the landscape of appliance brands and manufacturing to identify the brands by nationality and by where they are manufactured. In other words, which brands are "American" brands and what is manufactured in the U.S. By the way, we mean "made" or "manufactured" to also include assembly. Most manufacturing facilities today are primarily assembly factories where parts are attached to a chassis. American brands of major appliances include Whirlpool and GE as full-line manufacturers. Whirlpool is the largest appliance manufacturer in the world though over half their sales are in the U.S. Their headquarters are in the U.S. and they are listed on the U.S. stock exchange. Whirlpool also makes and sells U.S. appliances under these brand names: Amana, Jenn-Air, KitchenAid, and Maytag. They claim that over 80% of the appliances they sell in the U.S. are made in the U.S. Though listed on the U.S. stock exchange, GE is a true multi-national, doing business all over the world making and selling everything -

Cooking Modules
Among the many choices customers get to make when considering cooktops are the various individual cooking modules that are available. For example Wolf has both gas and electric radiant modules, induction modules, and individual fryers and steamers that call all be lined up to make a complete cooking solution. In the picture below we see a 4 burner gas cooktop with a separate grill module, and a single wok burner. German manufacturer Miele has some unique cooking modules in 12" and 15" wide configurations that they call CombiSets. These modules include a Tepan Yaki Japanese style griddle, induction, gas, boiler/fryer, wok, and barbecue units. Another German manufacturer, Gaggenau, has a similar collection of modules and offers an exclusive Vario(tm) downdraft unit for ventilation. We'll be discussing more downdraft option for modular cooking systems in a future blog.
