New GE High-Efficiency Washer
New Washer Means New U.S. Jobs "The new GE high-efficiency topload washer features the industry's largest capacity (five cubic feet) for toploading models while using less energy and water than a traditional washer. In addition to its efficiency, consumers will appreciate the time-saving, convenience-focused features on the new GE ENERGY STAR(R) washer, including SmartDispense(TM)." GE has added 150 new U.S. jobs to its factory in Louisville, Kentucky where they have been churning out topload washers since 1953. With 928 employs at the washing machine factory alone, GE has over 4,000 total employees in Louisville alone having added about 1,500 production jobs in 2012 as part of an $800 million investment. HE (High Efficiency) washers were once the limited to frontload models, but new HE technology has led to the consumer preferred topload washers now becoming the fastest growing segment of the washing machine industry. "GE's new HE topload is around 60 percent more water efficient than a traditional topload washer," said Heather Koyama, GE Appliances topload washing machine product manager. "There is no agitator in an HE washer, so the extra capacity lets the washer hold more clothes. The higher spin speeds allow more moisture to be removed from the clothes, which saves energy in the dryer." How important is a brand name?
Name brand appliances tell a story. Marketers use the term brand equity to describe the worth of a brand. Brands are built over time and firms invest millions in their brand image and reputation. A brand has meaning. It stands for something. A marketing executive once said, "A brand is a promise." When considering appliance brands, the brand tells a story. Major appliance manufacturers segment their brands to fit different buyers. For example, some brands are considered value brands. Value brands are built and priced to represent a value to entry level buyers who need performance at a price, i.e. good value on a tight budget. At the other extreme of the price spectrum are luxury and super luxury brands. These are the Cadillacs and Bentleys of the appliance industry and they carry a luxury cache' and a luxury price tag as well. In the middle are core or mass brands such as Whirlpool and GE that represent a wide range of choices and prices in the broad middle of the consumer market. Above the mass brands are premium brands that don't quite fit in the luxury category, but are a step up from the mass brands. Some marketers refine these brands even more adding for example, super premium brands, brands that are between premium and luxury. In any case, the story brands tell is related to the segment of the population that the brand is trying to represent. Customers sometimes self-select their own market category. Often demographics and income -

Holiday Baking Tips
Last Minute Baking Tips from GE Appliances Range - Optimal Baking Performance Many factors will affect the baking time in your oven. To insure accurate baking, we suggest the following: Be sure to preheat the oven to the selected temperature. (This can take 10-20 minutes, and most models will have a signal that will alert you when the oven is ready.) Be careful not to place the oven rack too close to the bottom of the oven. Follow the instructions in the Owner's Manual for proper rack placement. Dark colored pans absorb more heat and can cause over-browning. Solution: Lower oven temperature 25 degrees for this type of utensil, or use a pan with a shiny finish. Do not use pans that are too large or too close to each other or the oven walls. Solution: Make sure there is proper room for the heat to circulate up through the racks and around the food in the pans. Non-stick gray pans retain more heat and require a temperature reduction of 25 degrees from what the recipe calls for. Glass pans require temperature reductions, which can usually be found on the baking instructions. Do not open the oven door while baking any more than necessary. (If you do not have a window in the door, we suggest using a kitchen timer and check your food at the minimum baking time. Use your oven timer and do not check for doneness until the minimum cooking time expires. This will help keep the -
