Happy New Year! Time for New Appliances?
New Year Resolution: New AppliancesWelcome to 2017. Have you finished your New Year Resolutions? This may be a good time to consider some new appliances. The appliance industry is coming off a great year and there are lots of new appliances available just loaded with popular features. The competition among brands is fierce, so there are savings galore. Do you like to save money on closeouts? Universal Appliance and Kitchen is very opportunistic when it comes to picking up good deals on discontinued models. Here are a is just one that caught my eye from the UAKC website.Kitchenaid KBFS20ECMSKitchenaid 20' French Door Counter Depth RefrigeratorYour Price: $2,399.0033% Off: - $800.00Outlet Price: $ 1,599.00Limited to Stock On HandI owned this refrigerator for several years. It may be my favorite refrigerator ever. I love the French Door design, and the fact that it was counter depth. I also liked the handy water dispenser inside the door, and the clean look on the outside. We had to leave it when we moved, and my wife wanted a side-by-side dispenser model. Guess who won that argument? But it was another KitchenAid. By the way, even though I once worked for this company, I can tell you this is a great buy.Take a look at other closeouts by clicking on the link below:UAKC CLOSEOUTSBut, you don't have to get a closeout to get a great deal at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center. Think Black Friday is Done? Think Again.
Ongoing Black Friday Deals at UAKCBlack Friday Appliances prices are too good for just one day. Many of the deals are ongoing through what we might call Black Friday Week or Black Friday Month. Here are a few of the favorites at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center:KitchenAidWe've written about KitchenAid here before. It's one of my favorites. (Confession: I have KitchenAid in my house, right now.) It's what we call a Premium Brand. More deluxe than the standard appliance brands, but not into the exclusive category of Sub Zero Wolf, Thermador, Viking, or Miele.KitchenAid's Black Friday offer goes all the way through the end of 2016, but don't wait if you want these for the Holiday's. Remember, there's ordering, shipping, delivery, and installation to consider. It's worth it though - you can save $1600 on a package. Click on photo below for details:Sub Zero WolfI'd also recommend the collection of small kitchen appliances at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center. Wolf Gourmet offers countertop appliances including a superb Toaster/Oven Combo, a Blender, and a 2-slice or 4-slice Toaster.NespressoUAKC also offers the exclusive Nespresso Coffee Maker lineup. I first came across Nespresso in the walled city of Avignon in the South of France, where they had an entire Nespresso store. Appliance Finishes and Colors
Are Stainless Steel Appliances on the way out?Don't bet against Stainless SteelEvery so often we hear some predictions that stainless steel is on the way out as an appliance finish. Is that like to happen soon? No. Stainless steel is going to be the top choice for appliance buyers for years to come. Here's how it stands today:New constructionProduction home builders usually offer a base appliance package in white or black with an upgrade to stainless steel. Upgrading to stainless steel appliances continues to be a very popular choice for new home buyers.Custom homesProfessional/Restaurant style appliances are a top choice for custom homes buyers. Several of the top brands in this category only offer stainless steel, though some color selection is an option for Viking and Bertazzoni brands. (BlueStar, a pro-style line of cooking products has a very wide selection of colors.) In addition some elite luxury brands such as Le Cornue offer a selection of designer colors.Remodels and replacement salesCustomers who choose to replace their kitchen appliances from the popular entry level appliance brands, eg. GE, Whirlpool, and Frigidaire, available in white, black or stainless steel will almost always upgrade to stainless steel (except for basic apartment replacement sales). Though premium brands such as KitchenAid, GE Profile, or Bosch may be available in white and/or black, their sales skew heavily toward stainless steel. Kitchenaid has recently introduced a finish called black stainless steel that is getting a lot of attention.Whatever -

Appliance Rebates
Save on KitchenAid at Universal Appliance and Kitchen CenterRebates of up to $1500 on KitchenAidKitchenAid made its name as an innovator many years ago with the first automatic dishwasher. For decades the KitchenAid name was synonymous with dishwasher. Today, of course, Kitchenaid is a leading brand in premium major appliances. It's a category that I refer to as "affordable luxury", or high-end appliances without the luxury appliance pricing.Outside of the dishwasher, KitchenAid also has some superb cooking products being a leader in convection technology, and an early adopter with induction cooktops. KitchenAid also introduced the first French Door model Built-In refrigerator/freezer. Also an innovator in style, KitchenAid has recently launched the black stainless steel collection of appliances. Here's what KitchenAid has to say about this new collection:THE COLOR OF CREATIVITYBlack stainless steel makes a bold addition to any kitchen. The soft, brushed metal of the black stainless is offset by chrome details and satin-textured handles. And with a PrintShield™ Finish that resists fingerprints and smudges, your appliances will stay as stunning as ever.THE FIRST-EVER BLACK STAINLESS STEELThe premium color of KitchenAid appliances is a softer, warmer alternative to traditional stainless steel. Designed to blend with other black and stainless appliances, it makes a bold statement and complements the kitchen design. Now, your purchase of KitchenAid appliances at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center can also earn you rebates totaling up to $1500. Who's on First?
Sorting out AppliancesChoosing the right washing machineWhen you're choosing a new washing machine several factors come in to play, and effect our decision. Here are a few of them.Size:You need a machine big enough to do the job. Tub size can matter, but remember that front load machines will hold more than equivalent sized top load machine, and sorting and frequency of washing need to be factored in when selecting tub size.Cost:Everyone has a budget. Appliances can seem expensive, but think about the life span and how often you use your washer.Features:There are an abundance of features on today's washing machines. Make sure to take advantage of this, and don't buy a stripped down machine. I remember hearing about a customer who insisted on the most basic washer available, and later complained that it lacked a permanent press cycle.Brands:Brands DO make a difference, and it's easy to get confused. For example, the Whirlpool Corporation owns and manufactures several appliance brands, eg. Amana, Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, and Jenn-Air. However, that does not mean that these brands are the same. For example, Whirlpool laundry products are high quality and hugely popular. Even though Maytag washers and dryers are made by Whirlpool Corp, there are significant differences between Maytag and Whirlpool. Maytag has many heavy duty, commercial parts, that are absent on the Whirlpool as well as a longer warranty and a higher price. You may need advice in choosing between the Whirlpool and the Maytag and weighing the value of heavy duty -

Paralysis by Analysis
Deciding on a new appliance.UAKC can help you make the right decision.Recently, I wanted to buy an additional monitor for my office computer setup. I shopped around, and knew the prices, features, and sizes that would work for me. Yet, I agonized endlessly over this model or that, and I just couldn't decide. Suddenly, it struck me that I spent less time deciding over a new car that costs tens of thousands than over an inexpensive electronic device that cost only a few hundred dollars. Why was I spending all this time debating back and forth over something that cost so little? This is called paralysis by analysis. To one degree or another, we all have it. If you need a new refrigerator, a washer and dryer, or even an entire suite of kitchen appliances, you don't want to make a mistake....but, you also don't want to needlessly deny yourself these new appliances just because of your paralysis by analysis syndrome. Here's a suggestion: Call or visit Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center. I've know these folks for a long time (long before I began writing these blogs). They won't waste your time. They are very knowledgeable. Tell them what your situation is, and in no time at all they'll make a few recommendations. They'll try to match your requests for brand, quality level, pricing, etc. with the best overall choices that fit your needs. With their large selection of brands, and great pricing you really won't need to be shopping around. You can -

This Microwave Fits Anywhere
Kitchenaid Microwave Oven Fits 30", 27", and 24" Wide CabinetsKBMS104ESSI love it when I get to write about my favorite appliances. This is one that I discovered as a regional appliance manager visiting customers in the Western U.S. I soon discovered that Southern California had some appliance needs different from other parts of the West. For one thing, there are a lot of homes in California with 24'' wide kitchen cabinets. Kitchen remodels and updates can be challenging because today's built-in appliances are typically made to fit in 27" and 30" cabinets. I learned that there were only certain models of certain brands that had solutions to the 24" wide issue. When it came to built-in microwaves, the Kitchenaid microwave oven model KBMS104ESS was a one size fits all solution. It is a 24" wide microwave perfect for installation in a 24" wide cabinet. It also comes with trim kits that allow it to be installed in a 27" wide cabinet or a 30" wide cabinet. Of course, it can also be installed over a 24", 27" or 30" wall oven. I've noticed that built-in microwaves are being installed in more diverse locations these days. Because the KBMS104ESS has a drop down door, you don't need to worry about a swing out door getting in the way. It's also perfect for install under a countertop in the lower cabinet. The KBMS104ESS has remained popular over the years because at 1000 watts it packs a lot -
