Save Money Everyday Using Your Appliances
Appliance Operation Tips from UAKCWe regularly use this blog to provide tips on how to save money on appliance purchases. See blogs below:Two Viking Range Events Will Save You MoneyLuxury Appliances on a BudgetHow to Get Free AppliancesHowever, today we're offering 5 tips on saving money on the operation of your appliances. Clean appliances operate more efficiently. A dirty gasket on your refrigerator can create air gaps and let cool air escape, causing the refrigerator to run more. Clogged up ports in your dishwasher spray arms make dishwasher run longer to get dishes clean. If possible run appliances during off peak hours to save on electricity. Many appliances have delay timers that allow users to set start and stop times. Use energy saving cycles. It's not enough just having a light wash, a vacation mode, or a cold water cycle on an appliance. In order to actually save energy/money appliance owners must select and utilize these cycles when appropriate. Clean filters regularly. Range hoods, dishwashers, refrigerators, and dryers, all may have filters that need to be either cleaned or replaced periodically so that they can operate properly and efficiently. Wash full loads in the dishwasher and washing machine. It takes as much water and electricity to run a complete cycle whether the appliance is full or half-full.Of course, when buying a new appliance from Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center (UAKC) look for an Energy Star appliance. An Energy Star dishwasher, for example, will use 41% less energy than the federal -

GE Artistry Series Appliances at UAKC
Best Selection and Prices on GE Artistry Series AppliancesAt Universal Appliance and Kitchen CenterThe GE Artistry Series appliance line looks retro, but is designed to appeal to the younger crowd - the millenials. Available in both white and black, the new line definitely has touches that go back to yesteryear, such as a range with an analog clock, a bottom freezer refrigerator with rounded corners, and even an old style GE logo. With all the excitement of a new line with a hot design targeted at such a huge market as the millenials it would be no surprise to see GE launch this product with premium price points. However, the new GE Artistry Series appliances are solidly within reach of the millennial target market. A full kitchen package can be purchased for less than $2500.GE Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator $1099GE Dishwasher $499GE over-the-range Microwave $219GE gas or electric range $599TOTAL $2416It's interesting that the GE industrial designer that led the development of the Artistry Series, 27 year old Tomas DeLuna, is himself a millenial. DeLuna states:"Making the critical consumer touchpoints metallic, and set against either a pure, white gloss or black gloss finish creates a look that is both familiar to our consumers, yet remains fresh and modern. That's what makes the GE Artistry Series special; the design is authentic and contemporary with a nod to the past not currently offered in the marketplace."For a limited time, you can save $200 on a GE Artistry Series -

Appliance Features
Get the right features on your new appliancesAvoid costly mistakes in selecting plumbing fixtures and appliances Customers sometimes ask for basic appliances with no bells and whistles. However, it's important to be specific. Here's an example: After purchasing a "basic" dryer from one of the big box home improvement stores, this customer wrote:...no alarm to tell you when it is finished, had nothing but wrinkled cloths from day one because of this. Why would anyone build a dryer without an alarm is beyond me, not like you can stand next to it until it is done so clothes don't wrinkle."The truth is that the difference between a $299 dishwasher and a $399 dishwasher is not just $100. There are likely to be very important features missing on the entry level model such as delay start, heavy wash, or a sani-cycle. The time to find out about the features or bells and whistles on your appliance is before you purchase. If you wait until after your gas range has been in the home and used for a couple of weeks before you discover that you do not have a low simmer setting, it's too late. Here are some basic tips on getting the right features on appliances: Avoid "loss leaders". There's nothing wrong with buying an appliance that is advertised at a good price, but when you see something that is priced way below the market price for a comparable appliance ask the sales associate for an explanation. Reasons to Buy an Induction Cooktop or Range
4 Good Reasons to Consider InductionHere are four very good reasons you should consider induction if you are purchasing a new range or cooktop. If you think Induction might be for you, be sure to contact the cooking experts at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center (UAKC). They carry all the major brands and have excellent selection and prices.1. Fast to heat Induction will heat faster than gas or conventional electric heating. One manufacturer has even touted that their induction cooktop will boil water in 90 seconds. Powerful electric coils under the glass surface create magnetic induction energy causing the metal cooking vessel to quickly heat up. The pan itself is what will cook your food in record time.2. Responsive Induction cooking is very responsive. Since the power turns on and off instantly and doesn't need to ramp up or down, you'll see boiling water stop boiling almost immediately when you turn off the power.3. Very little heat transfer to cooking surface Unlike traditional heating methods, the intense heat doesn't spread to the adjacent cooking surface, making cleanup a breeze. 4. Prices are the lowest ever.Just in the last year or two induction cooktops and ranges have dropped considerably in price. There are models for nearly any budget. Most appliance brands in the popular price range such as GE, Frigidaire, and Whirlpool now have induction models in their lineup. Upgrade brands such as KitchenAid, Bosch, GE Profile, and Electrolux have some great features and represent terrific values. For top of the line -
