When is the right time to buy appliances?
Buying appliances when prices are low. People often ask, "Is there a season or time of year when appliance prices are the lowest?" Regardless of when they ask this question, there is an answer that is always right: "To get the lowest prices on appliances the best time to buy is now." Here's why. Regardless of sale events, which are also good times to buy appliances, the best prices on appliances are now because of the general increase in manufacturing costs. Consider the fact that the major component of appliances is steel, and steel prices have been rising since WWII with few if any interruptions (even during recessions). Factories have wrung all the cost savings out of manufacturing that are likely to be had for a long time to come, and productivity is at an all time high. This means that prices are likely to increase even in times of low inflation such as now because the demand for steel is not lessening. Looking specifically at the US appliance market going into 2013, most manufacturers are likely to have price increases in early 2013. Promotions such as rebates and cash backs will continue, but appliance firms will look for ways to reduce the amounts and time lengths of their promotional offerings. It's a safe bet that if you take advantage of a purchase opportunity now you'll be glad you acted sooner rather than later. Here's an example of an opportunity to save up to $2500 on a Wolf and Sub-Zero -

Sub Zero Refrigerator Installation Options
Options for Installing your Sub-Zero Built-In Refrigerator It's no surprise that you want your Sub-Zero refrigerator to have a stunning appearance in your new kitchen. The kitchen is the heart of your home, and the new Sub-Zero refrigerator you are purchasing is the cornerstone of your kitchen. Here are some of the choices you may need to make regarding the configuration of your refrigerator that will determine how it looks in your kitchen. Perhaps you are buying one of the very popular standard Sub-Zero Built-Ins with a stainless steel front, such as the BI42SD. You may elect to have it installed (by Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center) in a standard 24" deep cabinet. The refrigerator cabinet itself is 24" deep. The doors will not be flush with the cabinet and stick out a couple of inches. Most of the time this is not a big issue, and the stainless version is by far the most common configuration of a standard built-in refrigerator. There are some more custom options with this model, however. It is possible to have a flush inset installation if the refrigerator is recessed or with deeper cabinets. You may also want custom wood panels that match the cabinets. In that case you can order the refrigerator without the stainless steel doors so that it will accept custom panels. You may elect to have the custom panels fit into a frame for a framed installation, or you could have them installed as custom overlay panels which would be -

Tips to Keep Food Fresh from Sub Zero
Sub Zero Helps Users Keep Food Fresh Longer Working with experts at UC Davis Sub Zero developed User Reference Cards that provide valuable advice on proper food storage in Sub Zero refrigerators and freezers. Below are examples of some of the information Sub Zero provides to help keep food fresh: Some Food Storage Tips from Sub Zero Avoiding Cross-Contamination Sanitize counters, equipment and utensils after handling raw meat, seafood or poultry. Rinse with a dilute chlorine bleach solution, one teaspoon to a quart of water. Avoid cross-contamination in preparing food. Keep raw meat, poultry and seafood and their juices away from other food. For example, don’t use the same surface and utensils for preparing raw meat, poultry and seafood that you use for preparing salad ingredients. Ethelyne Producing Foods Some fruits and vegetables will produce ethylene, a gas that initiates the ripening process. Ethylene can cause premature ripening in some foods, while in others it can actually cause damage. To reduce unnecessary spoilage of your produce, do not store ethylene producing fruits and vegetables with those that are sensitive to it. Ice Cream The firmness of the ice cream will depend on its cream content. Higher quality ice creams usually have a higher cream content, requiring colder freezer temperatures to maintain their firmness. Soft ice cream is not always an indication of a temperature problem. Keeping Things Clean Clean everything that comes in contact with food. Wash your hands for 20 seconds before and after handling food. Use clean
