Buy Appliances Now for Best Deals
3 Reasons you should buy appliances NOW.While there is always a chance for prices to rise, there is a very strong possibility that appliances will go up in 2017. Therefore, the 2016 year ending is especially a time to seriously consider buying appliances before the year end - Especially, if you already expect to be purchasing any new appliances in the coming year. Here's why: 1. The housing market is strong. One of the biggest factors driving appliance sales is new home building. The housing market was strong in 2016, and indications are that it will be at least this strong in 2017. Therefore, appliance sales should stay strong and even increase in 2017. With demand steady and even on the rise, prices will likely tic upward.2. New household formation is growing. New appliance purchases increase with new household formations, which are growing as more Millennials begin to pair up, form households, and purchase home goods including major appliances. This will also help push appliance prices upward.3. Appliance replacement cycles have shortened.Buyers have become less willing to pay for durability, more interested in advanced technology, and features, and more willing to replace appliances sooner. These three factors combine to make it very likely that we'll see some price increases in the near future. Since many appliance manufacturers will be issuing new price lists after the year end. January 2017 may bring a number of upward price moves. Potential appliance buyers should anticipate not only price sheet increases, but also for a -

Think Black Friday is Done? Think Again.
Ongoing Black Friday Deals at UAKCBlack Friday Appliances prices are too good for just one day. Many of the deals are ongoing through what we might call Black Friday Week or Black Friday Month. Here are a few of the favorites at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center:KitchenAidWe've written about KitchenAid here before. It's one of my favorites. (Confession: I have KitchenAid in my house, right now.) It's what we call a Premium Brand. More deluxe than the standard appliance brands, but not into the exclusive category of Sub Zero Wolf, Thermador, Viking, or Miele.KitchenAid's Black Friday offer goes all the way through the end of 2016, but don't wait if you want these for the Holiday's. Remember, there's ordering, shipping, delivery, and installation to consider. It's worth it though - you can save $1600 on a package. Click on photo below for details:Sub Zero WolfI'd also recommend the collection of small kitchen appliances at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center. Wolf Gourmet offers countertop appliances including a superb Toaster/Oven Combo, a Blender, and a 2-slice or 4-slice Toaster.NespressoUAKC also offers the exclusive Nespresso Coffee Maker lineup. I first came across Nespresso in the walled city of Avignon in the South of France, where they had an entire Nespresso store. If you are a coffee lover, you're going to love the choices from Nespresso. But hurry, their Black Friday Sale, 30% off, ends on Nov. 30th. When to call an appliance repairman?
Getting your appliance repairedWhen NOT to call for repairLast week my wife informed me that our dishwasher was broken. When I asked her what the problem was she said it just didn't work. It wouldn't even start. I asked her if she'd been under the sink that day. "Sure" she replied, "but what does that have to do with the dishwasher being broke." "It's simple. It is unplugged." I said, pointing to the dislodged dishwasher cord on the back wall underneath the sink. This would NOT have been a time to call for a repairman. Before calling for appliance repair be sure that cords, hoses, etc. are all connected. Also, open the breaker box and make sure that no circuit breakers have been tripped. Review your operating instructions. There may be a "before you call for service" section in the back of the manual. This is all designed to avoid the embarrassment and cost of paying for a service call when the only thing the repairman does is flip a switch. When TO call for appliance repairBeyond the obvious disconnections or blown fuses, call for service. The last time I needed service was just a few years ago, when the bottom of the freezer section in my refrigerator became covered with ice. I knew exactly what the problem was. There was a defrost drain tube in the back of the freezer section that was clogged and wouldn't drain, causing water to drain on to the freezer floor and freeze into a large -

Appliance Finishes and Colors
Are Stainless Steel Appliances on the way out?Don't bet against Stainless SteelEvery so often we hear some predictions that stainless steel is on the way out as an appliance finish. Is that like to happen soon? No. Stainless steel is going to be the top choice for appliance buyers for years to come. Here's how it stands today:New constructionProduction home builders usually offer a base appliance package in white or black with an upgrade to stainless steel. Upgrading to stainless steel appliances continues to be a very popular choice for new home buyers.Custom homesProfessional/Restaurant style appliances are a top choice for custom homes buyers. Several of the top brands in this category only offer stainless steel, though some color selection is an option for Viking and Bertazzoni brands. (BlueStar, a pro-style line of cooking products has a very wide selection of colors.) In addition some elite luxury brands such as Le Cornue offer a selection of designer colors.Remodels and replacement salesCustomers who choose to replace their kitchen appliances from the popular entry level appliance brands, eg. GE, Whirlpool, and Frigidaire, available in white, black or stainless steel will almost always upgrade to stainless steel (except for basic apartment replacement sales). Though premium brands such as KitchenAid, GE Profile, or Bosch may be available in white and/or black, their sales skew heavily toward stainless steel. Kitchenaid has recently introduced a finish called black stainless steel that is getting a lot of attention.Whatever -

Small Appliances are Booming
Thinking Small (small appliances) at UAKCDeluxe 24" Appliances Now Available in SouCalUniversal Appliance and Kitchen Center has long been known for having the best selection of major appliances in all Southern California. That selection has been growing with all the new European sized 60cm. wide appliances that have been launched in the U.S. (60cm. is approximately 24 inches). For decades the standard size for U.S. ranges, cooktops, ovens, and hoods has been 30", and most single family homes today include 30" wide base and upper cabinets. However, for various reasons, there are large numbers of housing units in Southern California that have 24" wall and base cabinets that need 24" wide appliances. All the popular U.S. brand 30" wide ovens, ranges, and vent hoods won't fit in these cabinets, so only basic 24" apartment models have been available. That's all in the past, as new products are now available for 24" cabinets at a variety of price points and with a variety of features. For example, here is a new Bertazzoni stainless steel 24" wide gas range, a nice upgrade from a U.S. standard model. If you're looking for a full suite of built-in appliances in this category, you might start with Bosch, a European appliance manufacturer with a great reputation. Bosch is a premium brand, that has great quality, and at a price below the luxury category. Miele is also a European brand with a good selection of European size (60 cm) wide appliances. -
