$200 SoCal Gas Rebate on Whirlpool Washer
Get a $200 rebate on Whirlpool Cold Water Technology Washer WTW4715EW- $200 Rebate Offer - SoCal Gas Company 3.5 cu. ft. High-Efficiency Top Load Washer with Clean Washer cycle with affresh® Washer cleaner The biggest energy cost in operating a washing machine is not the cost of the electricity to run the washer. This Whirlpool washing machine is designed to take advantage of cold water washing technology to greatly reduce that cost. Here's what Whirlpool says about the WTW4175EW top load washer: This model automatically defaults to a cold water wash setting after every load, thus saving energy that might otherwise be used by water heating. Save Water When Washing
Tips to help reduce your water usage when washing clothes.Since over 20% of the average family's water use comes from doing laundry, reducing water usage in the laundry room can have a big impact on your total household water consumption. Here are a couple of tips to save water and save money in the laundry room.Wash full loads.Whenever possible washing a full load is far more efficient and saves water over partial loads. It will also save electricity or gas when drying clothes.Wash less frequently.Nobody's suggesting that we should wear dirty clothes, but really how often do we need to wash those denims when we only wear them for light day to day use? Remember Grandma talking about Monday laundry day, and that was the only day laundry got done? The next time we're loading the washer, let's take a good look at the clothes. If a high percentage of the laundry looks like it might be just fine to use another day or two, then seriously think about saving the time, the work, the energy, and water usage by laundering less frequently.Use Energy-Saving WashersSuprisingly, there is not much else we can do to save water in clothes washing except to use a high-efficiency front-load or top-load washer. Basically, that means if we're really concerned about saving water we should not be using a traditional top-load washer with an agitator post in the middle. Agitator type top-load machines will use up to 3X the amount of water that a high-efficiency -

Beware of your Fabric Softener
4 Fabrics to Keep Away From Fabric Softener Shared from Good Housekeeping Most of us think fabric softeners are good for ALL fabrics. Not so. Though we all know fabric softeners will...well, make fabrics soft. Perhaps, we're not aware that fabric softener should not be used on all materials. Here's a list from *Good Housekeeping: 1. Microfiber I just love microfiber, but I had no idea that using fabric softener when microfiber is in the wash could remove the effectiveness and the durability of the microfibers. 2. Athletic Sportswear Evidently, athletic gear frequently has "wicking technology" that will absorb sweat when you are exercising and help keep you cool. However, the coating that fabric softener leaves on your athletic wear will not allow "wicking" to occur, thus eliminating the absorption and cooling benefit of your athletic clothing. 3. Flame-Retardant Clothing Kids' sleepwear is required by law to be flame-resistant, but washing flame-resistant sleepwear with fabric softener actually makes them MORE flammable. 4. Towels How nice is it to dry off with a nice, warm soft towel? Nice, huh? But, when you use liquid fabric softener and dryer sheets, you'll be reducing the moisture absorption factor of terry cloth (and similar fluffy fabrics). Appreciate this content? When is the best time to buy appliances?
Should You Wait for Black Friday?Shop Early at Universal Appliance and Kitchen CenterHere's a recommendation. Suppose you have a need for an appliance. Your existing appliance isn't working or you're moving next week and have to get appliances for your new place. By all means don't wait. Call or visit Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center (UAKC) today. It just doesn't make sense to postpone getting an appliance that you need now, for the off chance that you'll find the exact product that suits your needs on sale during Black Friday. The experts at UAKC can certainly point you in the right direction today. Also, if you have already settled on the brand and model numbers that you want, don't hesitate. Head over to UAKC and get the best deal. Waiting just doesn't make sense. Black Friday Specials are just that - Specials. It's highly unlikely that the carefully selected specific models you've chosen from thousands of possibilities will magically appear as Black Friday Specials. For example, KitchenAid makes great dishwashers, but they have LOTS of models. If the one below just happened to be the one you've selected, Bravo! But, if you're stuck on a different feature set, are you going to settle for a model that you don't want just because it is a Black Friday Special? On the other hand, if you are an opportunistic buyer willing to jump for a deal when you see it, and don't mind waiting a couple of weeks, it probably won't hurt to wait -

Compare Appliances Before Buying
All appliances are not the same ...even when they appear to be Get the facts at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center One of the enduring myths about appliances is that if appliance brand A and B are manufactured by the same company or in the same factory, then those appliances are the same. Electrolux owns and makes Frigidaire, Electrolux, and Electrolux Icon brands. GE owns and makes Hotpoint, GE Café, Profile, and Monogram brands. BSH owns and makes Bosch, Thermador, and Gaggenau brands. Whirlpool owns and manufactures Amana, Jenn-air, KitchenAid, Maytag, and Whirlpool. At their laundry factory in Clyde, Ohio they build Whirlpool washing machines as well as Maytag washers. They're both great brands and each serves a specific niche in the marketplace. However, some people make the assumption that because they are made in the same factory a Maytag and Whirlpool washer are necessarily the same. Below are a comparably priced Maytag Maxima Front Load Washer and Whirlpool Smart Front Load Washer. MAYTAG MAXIMA® FRONT LOAD WASHER WITH STEAM AND POWERWASH® SYSTEMMHW8100DW Whirlpool Smart Front Load Washer with 6th Sense Technology: Stainless SteelModel: WFL98HEBU Are they the same? It's like asking if you and your brother or sister are the same as you. You may have a lot of similarities, but are you really the same? A leading consumer magazine rated the Maytag machine #1, saying that the Whirlpool performed nearly as well as the Maytag, and they gave the Whirlpool a "Best Buy" based on its price and -

Compact Undercounter Laundry Equipment
Undercounter washers and dryers Choose from top brands at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center As part of our series on undercounter appliances, today we're covering washers and dryers designed for installation in a base cabinet. Here in the U.S., we have separate laundry rooms, designed to accommodate full-sized top loading or front loading washers and dryers. They overwhelmingly are one of the big U.S. brands such as GE, Maytag, or Whirlpool or from one of the Korean brands, LG or Samsung. However, some of the top brands in undercounter laundry equipment are European names. Asko, Bosch, and Miele don't even compete in the large capacity U.S. laundry market, but they are big names in 24" wide washers and dryers that fit underneath a counter (though GE, Whirlpool, and Frigidaire also have models at the low end of this market). Since most washers sold in Europe are designed to fit in a 60 cm (24") base cabinet in the kitchen, this appliance category falls into the wheelhouse of the European brands. They do a great job of washing in less time than their U.S. counterparts and are very energy efficient. Their compact size not only means that they can be located in tight spaces, they are accessible and perfect to use for universal design. Bosch Fit speed and style just about anywhere. With their sleek design, our matching Bosch 24" laundry units offer best in class installation. Stack them in a closet or install -
