New Appliance Colors - Are they for you?
Is Stainless Steel on the way out? Whirlpool and GE have recently launched new appliance colors in an effort to unseat stainless steel as America's favorite appliance finish. Even Wolf has begun production of its ovens in black in order to provide an alternative to stainless steel. The Wall Street Journal recently ran a feature article, Is this the end of a 25 year run for stainless steel? In the article, author Ellen Byron writes, "It is a pivotal moment in kitchen design: While stainless steel is still the dominant look, there are clear signals it has outworn its welcome, even with no clear successor in place." It isn't every day that the big names such as GE and Whirlpool launch new colors. It's a serious effort to at least put a dent in the hegemony of stainless steel. Launching new finishes is a costly proposition. Especially considering that unlike washer/dryer colors, kitchen appliances must be matched across a wide variety of platforms, eg. refrigerators, dishwashers, ranges, ovens, cooktops, and even vent hoods. Whirlpool has launched its new "Ice Collection" of appliances a glossy black finish with stainless trim and a similar glossy white finish. "White is the new stainless" Whirlpool claims in their press release. However, there is hardly unanimity among competitors. Wolf claims, "Black is the new stainless steel" in announcing its new line of black wall ovens. Not to be outdone, GE has introduced a new line of appliances in -

Problem Solved - A 36" wall oven from Wolf
A very popular configuration in the kitchen has become a cooktop with a wall-oven underneath. It's a space saving solution that has good esthetics with a nice uninterrupted site line on the countertop as well as several other advantages over a freestanding or slide-in range. Customers are often frustrated however, that when they choose a cooktop that is 36" wide, the oven is only 30" wide and therefore doesn't really match. Not to worry. Wolf makes a great 36" wall oven that will fit nicely under your choice of 36" cooktops. Its unframed door design gives the Wolf L Series 36" Built-In Single Oven a contemporary look. Dual convection delivers superior results and faster cooking; the temperature probe gives you fine control. The easy-to-use electronic control panel rotates into position. When not in use, it’s hidden behind a stainless steel panel. No compromise: you get the 36" cooktop you want and have a great 36" oven underneath. Just look at the list of features that your new Wolf oven will come with:Dual convection system with two fans and four heating elements that deliver powerful even heat distribution.Hidden back element and recessed broil element allow use of the entire oven cavityWolf exclusive spring and damper door hinge system for smooth opening and closingTen cooking modes—bake, roast, broil, convection bake, convection roast, convection broil, convection, bake stone (accessory required), dehydrate (accessory required) and proofRotating glass touch control panel that can disappear when the oven is not in useStunning cobalt blue porcelain oven interiorFive level -

American Brand Appliances vs What is made in the U.S.
Having just finished the 4th of July holiday season with all the attending appliance sale events, it should be noted that at least one of the big box stores - the guys who wear orange aprons - had a newspaper tab with a patriotic theme, Red, White, and Blue sale featuring a Korean appliance brand. It might be interesting and worthwhile to look at the landscape of appliance brands and manufacturing to identify the brands by nationality and by where they are manufactured. In other words, which brands are "American" brands and what is manufactured in the U.S. By the way, we mean "made" or "manufactured" to also include assembly. Most manufacturing facilities today are primarily assembly factories where parts are attached to a chassis.American brands of major appliances include Whirlpool and GE as full-line manufacturers. Whirlpool is the largest appliance manufacturer in the world though over half their sales are in the U.S. Their headquarters are in the U.S. and they are listed on the U.S. stock exchange. Whirlpool also makes and sells U.S. appliances under these brand names: Amana, Jenn-Air, KitchenAid, and Maytag. They claim that over 80% of the appliances they sell in the U.S. are made in the U.S. Though listed on the U.S. stock exchange, GE is a true multi-national, doing business all over the world making and selling everything from jet engines, to nuclear power plants, to major appliances. They are much less of a factor in world wide appliance sales than in the -

Pro 48 from Sub-Zero - A Unique Kitchen Appliance
There are so many copycats in the kitchen appliance business that it's often hard to tell one product from another or recognize one brand from another. But when it comes to the Pro 48 Refrigerator/Freezer from Sub-Zero there is just nothing like it. Nothing else looks like the Pro 48, and nothing performs like it.First let's review a few of the unique design features of this product. It's probably the most eye-catching refrigerator out there if only for its sheer size. The bold professional look of the refrigerator doesn't seek to hide either. It stands out proudly and screams heavy duty. Large towel bar handles coordinate with Sub-Zero's sister Wolf range brand to give a family appearance. The Pro 48 can be ordered with a glass window in the refrigerator door or with a solid stainless steel refrigerator door. From the sturdy 4" legs at the bottom to the industrial appearance of the top grill vent, this unit has a top to bottom Professional look that will wow your guests every time they enter the kitchen. The design team at Sub-Zero didn't stop with looks alone, however. The glass on the door is triple pane and UV resistant. The upper grill flips up for easy access. The Pro 48 refrigerator can be built-in or, with an accessory kit, can be used in a freestanding application. There is an external temperature display with easy to read digital readouts so you don't have to open the unit and let all that cold -

Three ways to save on appliances
Here's an explanation of three ways to save on appliances: FREE AppliancesMail-In RebatesInstant Rebates Free Appliance offers usually include a free appliance with the purchase of a specific kitchen appliance or kitchen appliances. For example, purchase a range or a cooktop + wall oven and get a free dishwasher. Sometimes manufacturers parlay the free offer so that if you purchase the necessary appliances to get the free dishwasher you can then purchase a built-in refrigerator and get a free vent hood or add-on appliance such as an icemaker, wine chiller, etc. for free.Mail-In Rebates are offers by appliance manufacturers to refund or "rebate" to consumers a specifc amount when they purchase qualifying appliances such as the KitchenAid appliance rebate below. The consumer must complete a rebate form or certificate, and send it in to the manufacturer along with proof of purchase. It can take up to 8 weeks to get the rebate.Instant Rebates are similar to the Mail-In Rebates above except that the dealer gives the customer the rebate at the time of purchase and gets re-imbursed by the manufacturer. Customers can save up to $2500 on Sub-Zero and Wolf kitchen appliances below. No matter what type of savings are being offered you can save the most by having an appliance expert at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center help you select the appliances that best suit your needs at the lowest total cost. Some prices really are too low to advertise
It's true! We're not trying to hide our prices or trick you, but sometimes we just cannot put prices on some products in ads. Certain brands have policies that prohibit us from running our low prices in ads. In other cases our quantities may be limited and we just can't put a price out there for fear it will be sold before the ad breaks. You can always call or come in, and we'll try to give you the very best price we have on the products you need. Here are just a few of the products we have on sale right now during our Independence Day Holiday Sale. Hurry! Sale ends July 8th.Call or visit the professionals at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center today:12025 Ventura Blvd. Ste B-105Studio City, CA 91604PH 877 696-2987facebook twitter Posted with Blogsy
