The BEST place for major appliances and plumbing fixtures
Why Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center is YOUR best choice If you're doing your due diligence on where to purchase new appliances and plumbing fixtures, you should consider Universal Appliance an Kitchen Center (UAKC). Here's why: The Other Guys Southern California has its fair share of appliance showrooms. Some focus exclusively on esoteric products, and have luxurious, look-but-don't-touch showrooms. They make you feel as if you need to present your credentials before entering. At the other extreme, you may want to think twice about appliance retailers that advertise with tag lines that say "New and Used" or "We Take Trade-Ins." Just as risky, is going to the big box stores where sales associates wear aprons and sell light-bulbs, and garden supplies along with appliances, and plumbing supplies. The UAKC Difference UAKC does have very nice showrooms (see video below) in great locations. Expect live appliance vignettes, and beautiful designer displays, as well as rows of gleaming appliances. No matter your interests, you're always going to feel at home at UAKC. Even if they don't have valet parking (lol), you're sure to be greeted with a smile by a knowledgable sales associate. At UAKC, you'll find a host of luxury brands such as Wolf, Sub Zero, Viking, Thermador, Miele, etc. available for the most refined and discerning tastes. In additon, you'll also find on display top mass brands such as GE, Frigidaire, Whirlpool, and more. This is a signature feature at UAKC. They'll work hard to match your wishes and desires, -

Rangetop vs Cooktop
Choosing the right cooking surface unit Buying a New Rangetop vs a New Cooktop What?? Aren't rangetops and cooktops really the same thing? No, they're definitely not! For sure, if you ever try to replace a rangetop with a cooktop or vice versa you're going to find out very quickly that they are substantially different. In short, think of a rangetop as the upper portion of a range, including front facing knobs in the cabinet front. Think of a cooktop as a surface unit only, with the knobs on the countertop surface.Though you could find an electric rangetop if you looked hard enough (I think Viking and Electrolux make them), rangetops are most likely to have gas burners rather than electric elements. On the other hand, both gas and electric cooktops are commonly available in nearly all brands. So, what are the advantages and disadvantages of each? Well, since rangetops have the knobs in the front, they are very accessible, and make sense in a universal design, or for anyone who might have a difficulty reaching knobs that are on the countertop, especially the knobs in the back. Similarly, you might want to have knobs on the top to keep them away from small children. Remember though, all knobs require a push-and-turn movement to operate regardless of where the knobs are located. Also, If you're trying for a Pro-Style look, the rangetop is going to have more of this professional, restaurant type look. But, -

Convection Cooking? Is it just hot air?
Cooking with Convection How do convection ovens and ranges work? Wikipedia A convection oven (also known as a fan-assisted oven or simply a fan oven) is an oven that has fans to circulate air around food. Conventional ovens, which do not have fans, rely primarily on radiation from the oven walls, and to a lesser extent, on natural convection caused by temperature differences within the oven, to transfer heat to food. Depending on the brand and type of convection (see below) the benefits of convection cooking include: More even baking Cookies on multiple racks will come out perfectly cooking regardless of where they are placed. Faster roasting Your Thanksgiving turkey may be done 1/3 to 1/2 sooner than cooking conventionally. More flavorful The fan driven air circulation and speed of convection quickly browns roasts and other foods giving them a nice crust and sealing in juices and nutrients. True or European Convection European convection or "True" convection has an element surrounding the convection fan versus regular ol' convection that has a fan only - no third element. There is about a 50 year debate still going on about the differences and advantages of these two systems, and we're not about to step in it here except to say that you get to choose...and that's a good thing! Some ovens such as Wolf have DUAL convection meaning two fans. Jenn-Air's unique V2™ dual fans are stacked vertically.Just about all of the premium brands offer the convection
