Perimetric Hood

When Jenn-Air launched its Super Premium appliances in 2009, one of the eye-catching products was a dramatic new vent hood. Not only did it have a striking appearance, but it incorporated a new venting methodology – Perimetric Venting. Jenn-Air and other high end brands available at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center are now offering more hoods featuring this advanced system. Here’s what Jenn-Air has to say about how this venting system works:

Traditional ventilation hoods are open with visible filters. By contrast, our perimetric ventilation hoods hide the filters behind a cover, and only thin openings around the cover’s edges are visible.

What you may not know is that this design deliberately focuses airflow by drawing air through the thin slots. This speeds up the air to rapidly capture cooking vapors.

While traditional ventilation hoods centralize the capture area directly underneath the blower motor, perimetric ventilation distributes the capture area around the edges of the cover, nearer to the edges of the ventilation hood. This helps capture cooking vapors from above the entire cooking surface.

This design deliberately focuses airflow by drawing air through the thin slots… to rapidly capture cooking vapors. The combination of focused airflow and distributed capture area delivers the performance and efficiency of our perimetric ventilation while keeping its design elegant and understated.

You can explore Jenn-Air’s perimetric hoods and other major appliances and plumbing fixtures at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center today.
